The new social media experience through event planning

The past few months have been pretty busy in organizing conferences and seminars involving topics for social media, web 2.0 and the like. It is particularly strange to have that many events on the Balkans but hey, everything changes for the best.

I’ve been to couple of domestic ones and regret not going to few ones. I can only mention and reminiscent the positive experiences from the Glocal Conference for social media and Biz Buzz conference for ecommerce and IT and regret not visiting the WebIT Expo.

Their profiles are shown below, where besides their own websites they have multi-platform profiles for pictures, videos, short posts, event invites etc. It is exactly targeting the average internet user (not only the professional) in different aspects of the internet usage.
The other great thing about all these events was the prior awareness building. So, most of them started informing the potential attendees some 2-3 months prior the event, giving news and information about the program, the registration and some useful tips.

It was all very nice seeing that someone cares to have all the interested parties updated regarding the events, giving real time information and providing useful tools for sharing and spreading the word.
The other great thing was the profile of the lecturers, at WebIT e-Business & e-Marketing Expo there were some serious big players and trend leader like Pay Pal, Microsoft, Google, eBay, Coca Cola…

I am happy to say that slowly but surely, the Balkan is starting to accept the new technologies and to be in pace with the big players in the social media world, in organizing, exploring topics, inviting worldwide experts and combining the new technologies in the everyday life of the average user.
