SEV - energy consumption web meters
The Challenge
SEV is the main energy supplier for the Faroe Islands using hydro power and wind power as main sources. SEV is obliged to produce quality power for the Faroese market since the only power source on the island is their own produced energy.
The mission of the company is to provide the end users with hydro and wind power and at the same time offer them value added services. Being in doubt of what type of value added services will be most appealing to the users – the company has decided to make a change that will bring trust among the users in the services offered. That trust could be achieved through a transparent online system that will measure the consumed energy.
The Solution
Axeltra’s team had the final word for the solutions' appearance and functions bringing full transparency and all the necessary information for consumed energy and statistics. The developed result was an online solution for checking the energy consumption of a household or company as an end user.
The consumed energy can be seen by selected date ranges, by days and total energy consumed, by years. All the information is graphically presented through different chart types and reports. There is a possibility to compare different date ranges e.g. current year with past year. With this feature, the user will be able to see the yearly consumption of energy, how it varies over different periods of time and find ways how to start saving energy.
For the consumption data, the Landys & Gyri API is used, therefore the total yearly consumption data shows the consumption for the selected period, the price per kWh and the annual maintenance cost.
Benefits
These energy consumption web meters, introduced by SEV to their energy users has created a positive reaction. There is a transparency in presenting the consumed energy and the presented data is in real time, available from any PC and device with internet access.
This has lead to increased loyalty and trust from the customers and the overall satisfaction from the SEV’s services. Also the consumer can have a more in-depth knowledge of the energy them spend and thus save more energy.
